I’ll admit that isn’t true, but the last few weeks it sure seems that way. It’s pouring again as I type this, but I did manage to get out before sunrise and spend a couple hours in the Desert at Apache Wash.
It has been a dry year for the most part and the desert is really starting to green up. I found the cholla especially interesting as they were still holding on the the night’s rain.
And I don’t remember the last time the Barrel Cactus were so red.
But it is still not a desert hike without a saguaro!
And this is as close as I was able to get to the “Jackalope” this time. He must have shed his antlers recently, because I couldn’t make them out.
