Something to Howl About!

It started with the hot air balloons taking off in the distance. This time of year is the peak balloon season in the desert – it just depends on the wind currents where they start. This is only about half of them…

Apparently, the coyotes are not a big fan, particularly when they blast the burners. They were making all kinds of howling and jabbering as I trekked along – not usually something you hear when the sun is fully up. And I got a nice extended view of the pack.

And it was busy with other desert dwellers. A cardinal (pretty rare for me while hiking).

And, again, the jackrabbits were frolicking away. This time a pair of them.

But every hike must come to an end…
