Saguaro Sunday
It’s been a while since I just took the time and appreciated the saguaros from my weekend hikes. They become familiar friends that you wander by on the everyday trails as you are watching where you step. I have taken 100s of their photos over the last few years. And today, with purpose, I took […]

Trails: Cave Creek Regional Park (Go John Trail)
The calendar is about to hit May, and if you think it is starting to warm up in Phoenix, you are correct! That doesn’t stop us from hiking, it only changes the time of day we go (or how far north we want to drive). I will say that we should have started out a […]

Is One Sunset Worth a Blog Post?
It’s a Friday night and I wanted to get home early. But God had other plans. He decided to put on a show, that I was happy to attend. And I got home late.

It’s My Birthday, and I’ll Do What I Want (which is get out early and wander)!
Not much to share, as the pictures speak for themselves. When Phoenix gets a cloudy day, the pre-dawn and sunrises can be amazing. Summer Hikes in the Desert
Yep, it’s hot. Really hot sometimes. So what’s a guy to do when he wants to hike in the summer? He gets up at 4:30 in the morning and sets out. What started out as a personal goal to take 7 sunrise hikes in 7 days has now surpassed 20. It wasn’t for any particular […]

Desert Sunrises – Monsoon Style
The last few weeks in the desert has made for some awesome sunrises. I spent a nice early morning hike this past weekend and blown away. I also managed to unintentionally take another photo that I almost hesitate to share, just not sure why…. This isn’t a sunrise, but it was one of the […]

Unwinding after Work on a Local Trail
There is nothing better than a nice walk in the desert after a rough week at work. Phoenix has multiple trails around town. But for me the best variety is Apache Wash Trail. Add the fact that it is a ten minute drive from home and on the way home from work, I can’t think of […]

The Jack-O-Guaro?
A little late for Halloween, bit on the first hike of the month, I came across this saguaro: I was just hoping it wasn’t trying to warn me on not taking trail. All in all, a nice short hike that felt hotter and drier than the 80 degrees it actually was.
